desert-born

she was born in the desert,

midwestern raised,

whisked away to the west coast.

she has fire in her veins.

the west coast consumes her,

the midwest has shaped her,

but the desert is where

she returns to herself.

when you’re lost in the desert,

a sea full of sand,

the desert reminds you,

you’ll survive through it all.
